Policy 16 – Learning Environment/Programs and Services

 In response to stated educational values and beliefs, the Board expects effective and caring learning communities.

The Superintendent/CEO will:

 16.1     Ensure that programs, services and courses are in compliance with provincial                    requirements.

16.2     Approve assessment and evaluation practices which

a)         Ensure the achievement of provincial and local goals

b)         Foster an effective and efficient school system

c)         Promote growth and improvement

16.3     Establish and enforce discipline policies to maintain safe and effective environments for all students and staff.

16.4     Establish a dispute resolution process to be followed if there is disagreement about the appropriateness of the educational programming being provided to a student by the Board.

16.5     Take appropriate action with staff, students, or volunteers who have contact with students who demonstrate behaviours, actions, or attitudes that threaten the academic progress and/or well being of students.

 

The Superintendent/CEO shall not:

16.6     Tolerate practices within the school division that

a)         Conflict with provincial requirements or Board Policy

b)         Are not consistent with sound pedagogy

c)         Jeopardize the safety or well being of students

 

16.7     Fail to ensure a culture characterized by mutual respect.

Border Land School Division

Border Land School Division acknowledges that the communities and schools located within Border Land School Division sit on Treaty 1 and Treaty 3 land, the original lands of the Anishinaabe peoples and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

Border Land School Division respects the treaties that were made on these treaty areas and we dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with our Indigenous communities in a spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.
