The Border Land School Division supports the concept of school dances held outside of school hours as an extension of regular school activities. Dances are therefore subject to the same school behavioural expectations. The following guidelines are intended to help the planning process.

  • A guest list and a late list will be required.
  • Dances are to be no longer than four hours in duration.
  • Doors are open for one hour after the starting hour, after which time no one is allowed in unless named on the late list.
  • Dances may be held at the school or community hall.
  • A minimum of three chaperones must be present, one of which must be a teacher, and there shall be both female and male chaperones present.
Students leaving the dance after they have been admitted to the venue will not be allowed to return to the dance.

Border Land School Division

Border Land School Division acknowledges that the communities and schools located within Border Land School Division sit on Treaty 1 and Treaty 3 land, the original lands of the Anishinaabe peoples and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

Border Land School Division respects the treaties that were made on these treaty areas and we dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with our Indigenous communities in a spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.
