The school system recognizes the benefits from the informed support of the people of the Division. Information shall be provided to the public by:
- Declaring all regular Board meetings to be open to the public, except where legal, personnel, or negotiation matters are under discussion.
- Issuing news releases on matters of policy, program, and fiscal concerns which it believes are important for public knowledge.
- Distributing Board minutes to schools and posting approved minutes on the Border Land website.
- Informing employee groups, parents, community members, and the general public on the policies, programs, and plans of the Division.
- Publishing a summary or a condensed version of the annual financial report, stating in the publication that a copy of the audited financial report is available for inspection by any resident elector.
- Making available for examination and inspection in the offices of the Secretary- Treasurer a copy of:
- The final budget for the current year or any year within the last five years in accordance with the Public Schools Act and the Personal Health and Information Act.
- The audited financial statements of the Board for any year within the last five years.
- The Annual Compensation Report as required under the Public Sector Compensation Disclosure Act.
- Providing to advisory councils and local school committees any information that is reasonably necessary for their operation.
- Preparing a divisional report on an annual basis with an outline of progress with respect to divisional planning priorities.
