Homebound

Schools are expected to make provision for temporarily homebound students to complete subject area requirements as deemed necessary for the students to remain current.

If a student with special needs is unable to attend school on a regular basis, the school will provide programming to the home, based on the individual needs of the student and within prescribed resources available.

Home Schooling

In cases where parents/guardians wish to carry on the instructional program in the home, it is their responsibility to seek and to obtain permission from Manitoba Education to do so. In those situations, the parents/guardians and the individual(s) or institutions doing the programming accept the responsibility for the education of the student. Schools are encouraged to keep in contact with home schooled students and parents/guardians. The schools should be prepared to share resources when practical and/or expedient. The schools in Border Land School Division reserve the right to determine the grade placement of children returning to them after home schooling.

Students who are registered to home school who wish to access RRTVA courses, must attend a semester of classes in a BLSD school before they will be considered for admission to an RRTVA program. If a home school child does not return to BLSD classes after their RRTVA semester, they will not be permitted to return to the RRTVA until they enroll and attend classes in BLSD.
