The Border Land School Division recognizes the educational value of
student travel. It is the desire of the
Division to encourage and support student travel, provided the learning
experiences are an integral part of the instructional program. Trips must properly provide for the
cognitive, affective, and/or psychomotor development of students. The planned activities must constitute a
reasonable and effective means of extending school learning, student knowledge,
and understanding. Reasonable efforts shall be made to accommodate the needs of all students
for travel activities.
Planning is a vital component of all student travel. All plans shall be implemented in accordance
with MAST guidelines. Board approval is required for all extended student
travel.
