Border Land School Division understands the importance of connectivity with employees in positions of leadership, who are on call, and expected that they can be reached when needed. As such, BLSD will issue and pay the basic package for cell phone usage fo
r:

  • Senior Administration
  • School Administration
  • Divisional Managers
  • Divisional Coordinators
  • Divisional Technicians

Costs will be covered in the following way:

  • BLSD will cover the cost up to $265. If the phone you choose costs more than that – you will be asked to pay the difference.
  • BLSD will cover the cost of one car charger
  • BLSD will cover the cost of one phone case (cover) up to a cost of $50
  •

The above employees also have the option to engage in their own cell phone contract and they will be reimbursed for the cost of the phone plus the basic package rate upon submission of a copy their monthly bill to the division office. A copy shall be submitted once per year.  If an employee leaves Border Land School Division prior to the end of the phone contract, the employee will be asked to reimburse Border Land School Division at a prorated cost.

All costs above and beyond the cost of the basic package will be that of the employee unless the charges are work related and documentation is presented to support that.

When a cell phone contract expires, the decision as to whether or not the phone will be replaced will happen jointly between the senior administration, the tech department, and the employee.

Border Land School Division will not supply but will reimburse half the rate of the basic package for the following employees:

  • Clinicians
  • Power School Facilitators
  • Head Custodians

Individual teachers in schools will not be provided cell phones unless a school determines that is a cost they are supporting.
