Shevchenko School 2019 Terry Fox Run a Success!
Shevchenko School 2019 Terry Fox Run

Once again, Shevchenko School joined schools across Canada by participating in the September 2019 Terry Fox Run to raise money for cancer research.  Shevchenko school has helped with cancer research for 25 years in Terry’s name and fundraised over $73,000.

Famous quotes from Terry Fox: “When I started this run, I said that if we all gave one dollar, we’d have $22 million for cancer research.”  “If you’ve given a dollar, you are part of the Marathon of Hope.”

The 2019 challenge for the Shevchenko students was for every student and staff member to give a $1 and with every $500 fundraised Mr. Osadchuk would spend an hour on the school roof and Mrs. Alcock would wear the Sabre Mascot for an hour. The Shevchenko students raised $3200! So, Mr. Osadchuk spent 6 hours on the school roof on a cold windy school day and Mrs. Alcock wore the Sabre Mascot for 6 hot school day hours.

Thank you to all the Shevchenko families, students and staff who acquired and/or made pledges to continue to be a part of the Marathon of Hope.

Mrs. Penny Alcock – Vice Principal, Shevchenko School
