Ms. Shelley Gray Named as Principal for
École Parkside School

Border Land School Division

 


The Border Land School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Shelley Gray as Principal for École Parkside School.

 This permanent appointment will commence in September 2026.

Shelley has worked in the field of education since 2008.  Her work experience includes 12 years of teaching all subjects in the middle years at École Morden Middle School.  Shelley previously worked as an educational assistant and taught in the Educational Assistant Certificate program for Red River College.  Shelley holds a Bachelor of Education, a certificate in French Immersion for teachers from Université de Saint-Boniface, and is enrolled in a Master of Education Program, focusing on educational administration, at Brandon University.

 Shelley believes that the foundation for all leadership resides in relationships, trust, and a clear focus on student learning. She feels strongly that responsive leadership to support students as they grow and develop academically, socially, and emotionally is important.  Her goal is to foster a culture where students are engaged in meaningful learning, where staff feel supported in their professional growth, and where families feel welcomed as partners in the education of their children.

We welcome Shelley to this permanent role within the Border Land School Division, and we look forward to working with her as the Principal of École Parkside School.


Mr. Reggie Giesbrecht Named as Principal for Emerson School

The Border Land School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Reggie Giesbrecht as Principal for Emerson School.

 This permanent appointment will commence in September 2026.

 Reggie has worked in the field of education since 2016.  Reggie has worked at Emerson School for 10 years.  His roles have included classroom teaching in all areas from K-8, guidance teacher, and supporting the school through his resource teacher role.  Reggie also spent a year teaching grade 1 in Thailand.  Reggie holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg.

 Reggie’s vision of leadership is grounded in relationships, clarity, and a shared commitment to student success. He believes that an effective Teaching Principal leads by being present, approachable, and actively engaged in both the classroom and broader school community.  Reggie indicates that leadership means creating conditions where students feel a strong sense of belonging, staff feel supported and valued, and high-quality learning is accessible to all.

 We welcome Reggie to this new role within the Border Land School Division, and we look forward to working with him in this new role as the Teaching Principal of Emerson School.


Ms. Stormy Roach Named as Vice-Principal for Roseau Valley School

The Border Land School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Stormy Roach as Vice-Principal for Roseau Valley School.

 This permanent appointment will commence in September 2026.

 Stormy has worked in the field of education since 2019.  Her work experience includes teaching all subjects in the early years both in the Winnipeg School Division and for the last two years at Roseau Valley School.  Stormy previously worked for 7 years as an educational assistant, which inspired her to obtain her education degree.  Stormy holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Winnipeg.

Stormy believes that building trust and having a clear focus on student learning connects all members of the school community.  Her personal vision of leadership is grounded in the belief that people do their best when they feel supported, valued, and understood. She feels that leadership is about listening, building relationships, and recognizing that each classroom and each person bring something unique to the school community. She looks forward to continuing to grow with Roseau Valley School and to lead with joy.

Ms. Melanie Mattson Named as Vice-Principal for Shevchenko School

The Border Land School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Melanie Mattson as the Vice-Principal for Shevchenko School.

 This permanent appointment will commence in September 2026.

 Melanie has worked in the field of education since 2004. Her work experience includes 22 years of teaching multiple subjects across K-12 with a focus in early and middle years, and she has also served in the role of resource teacher.  Melanie was previously the teaching principal at Pineland Colony School and for the past two years was the acting Vice-Principal at Shevchenko School. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Manitoba and a Level 1 School Administrator Certificate.

 Melanie believes that the foundation for all leadership resides in the ability to be reflective and to collaborate with all in the school community to build a common vision.  Building a strong sense of community that holds high expectations and celebrates the successes of staff and students is important to Melanie. Cultivating a culture of openness, trust is mutual respect is what Melanie looks forward to continuing in her role.

 We welcome Melanie to this permanent role within the Border Land School Division, and we look forward to working with Melanie as the Vice-Principal of Shevchenko School.
