Schools are an integral part of community development. All reasonable efforts will be made to identify the community priorities and to be responsive, through Board action, to these priorities.  There are two major ways in which the will of the community shall influence the development of Board priorities:

  • The citizens of the Division are responsible for electing members to the Board.
  • All citizens of the Division are encouraged to express ideas, concerns, and opinions about public education through such means as:
    • Written suggestions or proposals.
    • Presentations at hearings or at Board meetings.
    • Responses to surveys made regarding education.
    • Attendance at community meetings sponsored by the Board.
    • Active involvement with advisory councils.

Border Land School Division

Border Land School Division acknowledges that the communities and schools located within Border Land School Division sit on Treaty 1 and Treaty 3 land, the original lands of the Anishinaabe peoples and on the homeland of the Métis Nation.

Border Land School Division respects the treaties that were made on these treaty areas and we dedicate ourselves to moving forward in partnership with our Indigenous communities in a spirit of truth, reconciliation and collaboration.
