Finance Assistant for the Payroll Department

Particulars:

The successful candidate will retain a full-time finance assistant position working in the payroll department at the Division Office located in Altona, Manitoba.  BLSD serves approximately 2000 students and employs 500 staff in 17 schools spanning from Altona to Sprague along the Canada-U.S.A border.  Finance assistants are required to work 7 hours per day and 12 months of the year.  Finance assistants fall under the direct supervision of the Secretary Treasurer.  This position will start at a mutually agreed upon date with the selected candidate.

We are looking for an individual who is organized, detail oriented, has strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and excellent interpersonal skills.  The key responsibilities of this position will be as follows: preparation and maintenance of payroll records, administration of group benefits, maintaining and analyzing payroll accruals, preparing and analyzing reports required of the province, division and benefit administrators, along with other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Experience:

  1.   Post-secondary certificate in a related discipline, or relevant work experience
  2.   Experienced in the use of computer software for payroll purposes
  3.   Ability to meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision
  4.   Ability to work as part of a team


Salary and Benefits:

The compensation package for these positions is in accordance with the Border Land School Division Support Staff Compensation Agreement and the Agreement between Border Land School Division and Finance Assistants.
